As mentioned above, foil block printing is used by hand, it takes us back to the good old days!!
Metal dye’s are made using the desired design or wording, these are placed into the foil printing press, the coloured roll of foil is added, the board or paper gets inserted, and with the combination of pressure and heat the design is stamped onto the board, for a stunning effect. The finished foiled design or wording has a smooth finish, and just slightly indented into the page.
The foil printing makes for amazing wedding invitations, especially if they are combined with a gilt edge of the same colour, this really makes the foil printing stand out.
There is a large selection of colours of foils to choose from, the most common is gold & silver, with their impressive metallic finish, however blue’s, bronze’s, red’s etc work just as well.
The metal dye’s that are made can be as intricate as you would wish, that’s why foil printing still works well for business cards, just because it is a smaller product, doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be able to have them foil block printed.
